Gencraft AI illustrating ‘the snowball effect’ of growing an audience. I feel cold just looking at it. Brrrrr.

Just to bring the newbies up to date, when I started this Substack project in November 2023 I decided to set some Micro Goals to chart my progress.

We are now 10 months in and I’m chuffed to bits with how things are going, with this original Substack and the other two that you encouraged me to start.

Let’s start with those…

Co-Work Corner update

This one was always going to be a slow burner, given the geographic requirement of being in the Guildford, Surrey area of the UK, in order to attend any of these sessions.

We’ve not yet reached the giddy heights of people helicoptering in from the Orkney Isles just for a bit of diet-coke-price-based banter.

The group only exists on Substack which gives it a very limited exposure, but what it does ensure, is that everyone who sees it and then decides to join is lovely, so I figure in the long run this is a great theory as it quality controls itself.

I’d rather surround myself with a few lovely Substackers and friends, than a whole gaggle of idiots, who are too lazy to Google ‘Who is Bruce Jenner?’, which gives you a good indication of when I was last on Facebook and why I left.

There are currently 11 of us in the group (including me), and the most we’ve had at any meet-up is four.

I do love this little group and enjoy how the sessions not only break-up the monotony of working from home for me, but also give me one or two extra dashes of enforced focus per week.

An additional side effect is that I’m fast becoming an aficionado on the local pub scene which can only be a bonus. 👏

Long may it continue! 🎉

Substack Type Club update

This is an altogether different beast, and has set off on an absolute flyer!

Each post has attracted a bevvy of newbies all keen to show off their Substacks and discover new ways to grow their own following.

Already there are a number of paid subscribers, most of which I met at our first Substack Geek-Out Zoom, which due to a total cock-up on my behalf of GMT versus BST lasted over two hours, and I must say I loved every minute of it!

I can see these Geek-Outs becoming a highlight of my month, and yes, I can confirm everyone is lovely, which makes chairing them an absolute delight. 😃

Off on a Tangent update

My original Substack reached over 1,000 subscribers a couple of weeks ago, which was a huge milestone for me.

1,000 subscribers was in the ‘end of year dream’ category, so to reach it at all, never mind with a couple of months to spare, has really blown me away, and given me a renewed belief of what I can achieve on this platform.

And so to the numbers…

… including new line item ‘Gross Annualised Income’ for some extra spice!

As usual, here is the empty grid so you can see what the detail will be.

Here comes the paywall, as these numbers are only for my inner circle…
