My thoughts tracked with yours. So much to love. Then a troubling thought here and there a day or three later. I watched it on a transatlantic flight. I’d been pleased to see it offered, as the trailer looked majestic. The realization of the Irish Civil War correlation does make it all fit.
I was thinking about watching this movie because I SO lurved them both in IN BRUGES, but after watching the trailer, it was a little "meh" for me and decided against it.
It’s so clever once you have that knowledge. 👏👏👏

Ooh, it’s a tricky one for a flight when your emotions are heightened and you can’t Google the explanation!
I did another post about watching films on flights, which I’ve taken the Paywall off, just for you! 😃

This film is anything but ‘meh’, give it a go! 👍
I loved this film but I don’t think I’d appreciated the deeper metaphor that the article suggests. Might watch it again now 👍
Reading that explanation was a total game changer for how I viewed the film, so grateful to the writer for laying it all out so clearly! 👏
