The only posher bath I have heard of is when someone moved into Marti Pellow's old home and discovered he'd had his name engraved on to the bath plug. (Although now that your tap system thing is broken, your bath falls down the list somewhat.)
PS: Am still feeling bad that Geoff went to the 'shit' Waitrose in Guildford town centre, that's really only a 'pop in for a loaf' Waitrose. Such an unfortunate choice.
Your bathroom is a dream! For me, the thing about getting up at 5am is that then you’d have to go to bed at 10pm? And I just…don’t do that. Nope. I know that’s so on-trend right now, that everyone loves being in bed at 9pm but yeah, not my thing. Midnight girl here.
Loving your loving of the bath and that we got to see it and the said defunct tap….hope the new one is assisting with the bubble formation!! My bath is a dust collector, literally, so very annoying as it sits below our velux!! A reminder hell if I can see that, might need to dust everywhere else
Like you, I will NEVER EVER EVER be a 5am person. Unless the house is on fire. I'm a tubber and would TOTALLY be taking daily baths (at night) if I had a tub like yours. LOL My daily routine is taking showers THE MINUTE I get home from work. I'm moving into my own place next Thursday and when it's not my week to caregive, I will be sure to take a bath at least once that week. Which means I, too, will have to take a trip to Lush and indulge in one of their bath bombs.
I actually did get past the fingers really but they did stall me.
Kudos to that bath and that bathing ritual.
I can't do baths. Has to be showers as I can't relax.
Oh wait a minute .. I can relax .. in my bed. I have never been a 5am person unless it's to catch a flight to a worthy destination. I will stay in bed as long as possible and have got my 'get read'y down to a fine art including shower, hair and makeup done in 17 mins. I have to know the outfit tho otherwise it would be pandemonium and I'd never get anywhere 🙈
Hope you solved your bathing dilemmas! I wake at up 5.45 with no alarm, and force myself to stay in bed till 6.20. Why is Christmas1 and proper2..?. its bugging me xx
I am not a bath person while hubby takes a bath before bed every night.
I love my home temperature app. We like our room chilly overnight but first thing in the morning I turn on the heat from my bed. Yes, we can program the temp but the device is complicated.
I was desperately hoping that the end of the story wasn’t the fancy bath taps had gone, cos I really wanted to use it in business case to the husband for our refurb 😭 also need to know why it’s a ‘no’ for the boiling water tap?!
I too am sad it’s the end of the road for those taps. 🥲
Re the boiling tap, that was installed about 8 years ago, and we’ve had to replace the entire unit once and also you have to change the filter every six month.
Each time it goes out of action, the kettle comes back in and we don’t really miss it.
Mr.D then can enjoy proper hot tea/coffee rather than the ‘airline tea’ that the ‘boiling’ tap gives you.
I famously don’t do hot drinks, so only use it to give water in a pan a head start. 😂
So much to tackle here… Hating getting up early, oh yes! Fresh flowers in your bathroom, ooh fancy! A tap that can self-administer bubble bath, mind blowing! But above all, what is going on with your fingers in that photo???!!!
I know, well spotted, I was hoping no one would notice the extra two hands/arms. Gencraft AI works its magic again… you should have seen the one where I had four legs! Not even kidding. 😳
I want this bath and I love the color association with the temperature. That's a MUST. Have you thought of outfitting Substackers' bathtubs/designs the way Camden Noir (https://substack.com/@camdenoir) has taken to building Substack shelves for Substackers? I'm seriously thinking this is a business opportunity waiting to be capitalized on....It's not Substack merch, per se but it's an in-demand commodity for many. Notice I didn't say luxury...
Kate! Thanks for the midnight nod in my direction (*Colin From Accounting noted!). I quickly and successfully adjusted my 'day job' start time from a suggested 9 a.m. to 11. Let's get real. Years ago my sister's friend somehow wrangled a note from a MD that indicated that she suffered from "morning sickness" though she wasn't pregnant. If I have to wake up and actually be somewhere before noon, all the nights previous to that are ruined and wracked with nightmares about me not being anywhere close to the necessary destination at the required time. If it weren't for my wife, I'm not sure when I would naturally wake up.
Your bathing ritual takes me back to my youth when it was a daily battle for "first bath." We lived in the country on a well, so water was extra precious (this was the 70s, not the 1870s). If you were fifth bath, well, it was filth bath. Stubble from two teen girls, who knows what from my brother, too many floating things from previous bathers, related or not. My parents STILL share bathwater (not a bath though) despite being on city water. It's all very fascinating what goes on beyond closed doors, thanks for opening yours! One of my favourite soaks was a beer bath at a spa three hours from here. The Czech copper tub was filled with lobster-boil water, 2 pints of beer with hops floating on top. And you could soak with a pint. Maybe you need to adjust your bathing hours?
Yes, actually. Those hop bracts get tangled in your hair. I forgot to mention that I always wanted one of those Casio calculator watches. Luckily I have a wife that can do math in her head instead. We are going to time how long it takes to fill our tub now! Your home spa looks drop-dead gorgeous!
I have serious bath envy now. I love a bath especially listening to the radio even before children now it's like my only escape. I struggle to sleep before midnight and I hate getting up early especially like today when i've not had anywhere near enough sleep. If i wake up at 5am i feel cheated for the rest of the day. I love daydreaming in bed in the morning. I think perhaps one of the secret reasons i keep my children home with me is so I don't have to get up for nursery run. I love snuggling in bed with Lyra in the morning, not looking forward to going back to school runs. I've actually booked an air b n b mainly on the bathtub for a friend's event in September and it's not even anywhere near the venue.
The only posher bath I have heard of is when someone moved into Marti Pellow's old home and discovered he'd had his name engraved on to the bath plug. (Although now that your tap system thing is broken, your bath falls down the list somewhat.)
I know, the shame of it all. 😔
It’s what we all want and it’s taking everything to stop myself from Googling it. I can never get the temperature right first time.
Don't do it! It'll cost you £2k in 10 years time to fix!
Or maybe move after 9 years. 😉
Oh my gosh, I’ve totally gone off him! 😂
😂
PS: Am still feeling bad that Geoff went to the 'shit' Waitrose in Guildford town centre, that's really only a 'pop in for a loaf' Waitrose. Such an unfortunate choice.
😂 He should’ve done his research.
What. A. World. What a bath! Ps member of the early risers club here 🙋🏻♀️….if that’s not obvious at this hour!
That is too funny that you wrote it at 05:20!?!
Yikes! Have you done yoga and written half a novel by now? 😳😘
Me too! 😂
Eeek! 😘
I know! I didn’t even go to bed at 9pm when the kids were little, I want some me-time at that time of day! 👏 😘
Loving your loving of the bath and that we got to see it and the said defunct tap….hope the new one is assisting with the bubble formation!! My bath is a dust collector, literally, so very annoying as it sits below our velux!! A reminder hell if I can see that, might need to dust everywhere else
Oooh, bath under the velux, there’s a lesson, I’d never have thought it would be a dust trap! 😮
🤣 we live and learn …hope new tap is everything it needs to be!
New tap is ok… but it’s not the same. 😢

Good luck with the move, I hope you'll be having Lush baths very soon! 🤞😘
I couldn’t get past the fingers reaching for the alarm clock 🤣
Hee hee, yes the AI image generator does like to over-deliver and give me too many hands! 😂
🤣
I actually did get past the fingers really but they did stall me.

The 1 and 2 are footnotes, if you click on them it will show the note, or scroll to the bottom of the piece and they are listed. 🤓
I cannot even comprehend the notion of ‘forcing myself to stay in bed till 6:20’… that would really be a Christmas miracle! 😂😂😘
I LOVE A BATH. I’m super jealous of yours though 😂 xx
No need for jealousy, the taps are no more. Sigh. 🥲
Should we run a sweep on how long it will be before I forget to turn it off? 😂😘
😂😂😂❤️
Love this. Great photos.

I love my home temperature app. We like our room chilly overnight but first thing in the morning I turn on the heat from my bed. Yes, we can program the temp but the device is complicated.
Hee hee, I love that you adjust the heating manually everyday to avoid programming it! 👏😘
I was desperately hoping that the end of the story wasn’t the fancy bath taps had gone, cos I really wanted to use it in business case to the husband for our refurb 😭 also need to know why it’s a ‘no’ for the boiling water tap?!

Oo good to know … I would hate to learn that the hard way!

I can’t find his Substack shelves post, but very much chortling about the kitten called Kevin. 😂😘

I presume you needed to shower after the beer bath? 😳

And practically a post in its own right! 🙌 😘
Starting the day right! Love the latest pic too 😂
Thanks Kate! 😘
Before I read this I was thinking how I just press a word and an audio version is offered by AI in your choice of whatever voice you want.
Computer off. .
Nope. You've lost me. 😳
I like reading myself was good I imagine your running bath water is therapy ❤️
