I'm the same with mountaineering. I love books, documentaries and podcasts about climbing mountains, despite the fact that I have vertigo, asthma, and a distinct lack of any physical prowess 💪

You would love the film documentary ‘Sherpa’, from the comfort of your sofa! Have you seen it?

I still get a flash of vertigo every time I hear a ladder creak! Incredible people. 👏

Yes, seen it! I also recommend Meru to anyone who likes to watch people do crazy stuff from the comfort of their sofa.

Oh my god, that’s insane - how do they do it?? I think I’d be too scared for them to watch 😬

It’s quite exhausting on the viewers too! No idea how they do it! 😳

This feels so surreal.... like no, it can't be real. Kate is just being comical.

That’s the thing, it’s so ridiculously dangerous, you think that people surely can’t be doing this… and yet they are! 😳

My voyeuristic thing I love but would never try is survivalist shit. I can't get enough of it! But living out here off-grid in the middle of the forest is as survivalist as I get. And let's be honest, this is more like glamping than surviving. 🤣

Glamping as a lifestyle, could be worse! 😃

My friend's daughter-in-law was competing in this, Kate! And her son is also a competitive mountain biker. I just can't imagine the nerves she must feel when they are competing.

Wow! Huge respect! I watched the women’s event, very impressive too… and terrifying! 😳

Worth noting that none of the men did a back flip in their first year of Rampage! 😉👏👏👏

Being Dutch I guess you could say I was born in the bicycle saddle 😜 This however is completely insane and yet, I was totally drawn into it, staying up well into the night to see those last runs of this year. It's a near perfect unity of mind, body and bike.

Thanks for putting this in my path, Kate. Red Bull Rampage has another fan for life.

I’m so glad you checked it out and enjoyed it, great viewing! Amazing runs! 👏

Obvs as a Brit I’m still fuming about Brendog’s score… but at least he was voted in for the People’s Choice and Trail Blazer awards! 😉👏👏👏

Yes, I can image. And it was so clear from their reactions that the crowd in Utah loves him too.

But how do they do it 🫢

I think it’s all in the landing. They do spend a LOT of time constructing the perfect landing ramp to soften the impact… but still… utter madness! 😂

Hi Kindly Kate. To avoid this Challenge I would volunteer for front-line duty in any combat zone in the world; I think my chances would be better, and being shot for desertion (my most likely outcome) would be positively blissful compared with the living hell on your attached video. I’m also terrified of heights, but two things that fascinate me are Acapulco cliff-diving and people snuffing it on Everest and K2. While I’m here I’ll just mention that I don’t feel like a failure. I’m about as well-adjusted as anyone I know. I wrote a 300K word fantasy novel during the 1990s but I couldn’t find an agent and I wasn’t about to send it in with the slush. (That’s 300 thousand Imperial words; I don’t know how many that works out to in metric.). Thanks for getting my heart rate up to 25BPM with that video clip. Bye for now and enjoy your popcorn and your nice safe couch!

Totally agree, cliff diving is just madness, but very compelling to watch! 👏

Apparently there is a dead body at the base of Hilary’s Steps on the way up Everest that the guides have to warn the punters about. It’s too much effort to bring him down, so he’s been there for all to see for years! Weird. 😳

Good luck with the writing! 👏

It’s a fact that most deaths on Everest occur on the way back down after a successful (?) summit. Altitude sickness, stroke and hypothermia are listed as the most likely causes of death but you and I know the real cause is “Summit Fever.” Fun fact: a frozen 160# (73kg) corpse weighs about 600# (272kg) after it’s been frozen at that altitude for a while, making recovery for Proper Burial highly unlikely.

It's like Extreme Motocross or something. I couldn't watch this. LOL There's no way. I love pairs skating and tense up every time they do a lift or a throw lift LMAO so there's no way I could watch this. Has anyone died doing this? Seriously. This inquiring mind wants to know.
