You are NOT the only one that hates clothes shopping. <raises hand> Even when someone else was doing the buying (parents when I was younger), I hated it. To this day, I still hate it. I used to buy my clothes online A LOT from all these catalogues I used to get in the mail. Nowadays, it's jeans, T-shirts, and leggings. Which I'm happy about, to say the least. I tend to go for the boho look. Leggings, maxi dresses and ang ankle-length flowy skirts. I'd totally buy into The ShopMate 3000 thing. But yeah, I could totally see it get out of hand. Unless the viewing was actually in the dressing room itself and not out in the open.
What a brilliant and witty exploration of how AI could transform the shopping experience, Kate! The idea of a 3D avatar as a personal shopper is both innovative and amusing. Your humorous take on potential glitches adds a delightful touch, making this post a joy to read.👍
I'm lucky in the shoe department. My wife buys shoes that are consistently a half size too big for her but perfect for me, so I benefit from inherited shopping items. We're not close on jeans or tee sizes though---to give perspective, my hand-me-downs go to 13-year-old boys and a twiggy 85-year-old neighbour. I'm on my own for those items but am loyal to one jeans brand and will never wear a party dress unless it's for Halloween. I feel like I should point out that I am a woman, as this post could be wildly misinterpreted!

This is such a good idea that I hope someone seriously invents this. I would 100% pay extra. And I love clothes shopping! 🛍️
This is a GENIUS idea, trying on clothes is so tedious
I’m just hopping that you actually do have those fabulous legs in the photo Kate!
Sadly I only have two legs, rather than the ubiquitous 2-3 assumed by the AI. 😉

Thanks so much Somy, glad it made you giggle! 😂
You're very welcome, Kate!😊🤞

Is this what you’re talking about?

Not quite, I'm imagining a full-on life-sized 3D-esque Avatar!
When we're all shopping like that in 10 years time, you heard it here first. 😉 😂
Oh yes. And it must be a hologram.
Next time we meet I will be checking whether you have 2-3 legs and mis-matched shoes….it should make you easy to recognise!
I’m sure they will be widely available in ten years time! 🤞
It really is! 😂
I am the opposite with shoes, am in complete denial that my feet may now be half a size bigger than they always have been. 😮
