Yes! I was trying to describe it to my mom. That’s one of the things I mentioned. All these cultures and different types of people forced to interact with one another.
And also the problem solving practice and learning. We could write a business book about this. Of course, legit life is boring! It’s far less creative I imagine. Wasn’t too keen on Eddie’s arc into violence tho
I think they could have set up his military background better. Instead of being at a checkpoint he should have been on some mission. Then we wouldn’t be so surprised that he is a calm cucumber when crazy car lady hacked up that dude. Meanwhile, she was awesome. What a fun role.
This sounds great! I rarely wish I still lived in London but this post is giving me some serious FOMO (killing some time in the bar upstairs at Waterloo = winning at life). It’s not totally inconceivable I could make it up from Brighton for one though so maybe I will get to meet some Substackers in real life too ya never know..
What a lovely meet up. I went to one In Seattle and wrote about it. There’s a particular camaraderie with having a Substack that goes beyond any genre of writing. ❤️
Such a fun little tour of your evening to London for our meet-up. Particularly love the comparison to the wedding ice breakers. Thank you so much for coming.
Really loved meeting you and hearing all about your work. I agree - feels like the start of something special! To many more🥂
Top Tip from @clairevenus , always '❤️' your own posts and kick off the comments, so people are more likely to join in! 👏
Seriously? Does it work? It sounds rather egocentric to me
26 Comments in 48 minutes. #justsaying 😉
OK, thanks for sharing. In the interests of research before reaching a definitive conclusion I might give it a whirl.
Obvs half the comments were mine, but you get the idea. 😉
I didn't like to say 🤣
Always the gentleman. 😊
I think if it feels natural and not forced it could work.
I'm afraid any kind of self promotion feels forced to me, but that's a reasonable comment and approach. Thanks for suggesting it.
That must be where I’m going wrong!
Ps: have also had a great response from posting a Substack Tip first in the Comments!
I might need to repeat this theory. 😉
Brilliant! Thank you.
Oooh great idea!!
Great idea. Thx Claire and to you for sharing.
Nice! I’m still stuck on a brain freeze 🥶 with “The Gentlemen”! Finally completed it. Need season 2 right away.
Let's hope Guy Ritchie is working on it right now! 🤞
I forgot to re-post the link to my The Gentlemen post if anyone missed it:

The Series is soooo good, we're still talking about it! 🥰
It’s an amazing post!
Thank you very much! 😘
OMG! Hubby and I have Covid and finished binging! The Gentlemen is a modern day Breaking Bad. That Guy Ritchie is so talented. 🥰
Don't forget to watch the film too if you haven't seen it already, it will take the edge off. 😉
Ohh! I forgot about the movie version. Thx for reminder. 🙏
It’s a pleasure to watch. So much artistry and appreciation of different cultures going into this one.

He does have a military background though, so violence is more like a home from home for him surely. 😉

Love this post and the description of your journey to The Bunch of Grapes. Will have to think of a Substack meet up in Cambridge 😁😘😘

Yes, you definitely could... and get some writing done on the train! 😉
It would be lovely to see you at the next one! 👏 😘
I can’t cope with the amount of male bare ankle with suit trousers on MAFS Australia. I should have come just to discuss this. Next time!
You really should, it's networking for introverts! 😂
Can't wait to discuss MAFS with you at the next one! 👏 😘
You've sold it to me!

Lovely to hear you enjoyed your local one too!
It is such a cosy camaraderie, as you say! 👏
Kate!! LOVE THIS ❤️
