These reviews were so funny I'm wondering if they are more comedic than the films.

When you said the writer put the "com" back in Romcom, was that a punn? "Cum/com"? I know, ew. Couldn't resist given the subject matter of the flick. A new genre-- RomCum.

Ha ha, thank you! 😘

The cumpun wasn’t intended, but you may well have stumbled upon a new film genre, I suggest you pitch it to Paramount yesterday, if not sooner! 👏👏👏

This reminds me of when my ex suggested my sexier novels be described as Flick Lit.

Funnily enough, I also wrote about Leo Grande in a larger discussion, called Researching the Female Orgasm (https://arichardson.substack.com/p/researching-the-female-orgasm). The film was panned in The Times as being on a not-very-important subject (not exact words, but something to that effect) about which I disagree whole-heartedly. I thought it was a very thoughtful film on an important subject, but then I am even older than Emma Thompson and think older women's sexual fulfilment is just as important as everybody else's.

Haven't seen the first one, although it's right up my alley of romcoms, but that second one though...I, too, like Miz Emma, it sounds boring. Like, I might dip out and decide to watch 365 DNI parts 2 and 3 to make up for it. LOL Have YOU seen that trilogy? Oh man! Michele Marrone can call me 'Baby girl" any. Damn. Time.

I've learned that our cinematic tastes are so parallel that I can now lean on you as a personal shopper/previewer of sorts. Thanks for that! I have seen Leo Grande and found it not grande at all. I'm not a giant fan of Anne Hathaway (though I was curious about her Inspector Gadget wardrobe) and appreciate your disclaimer "I suggest you save it for when you’re feeling a bit frazzled and just want to switch off, or perhaps a sick day when you’re not operating at full capacity." That says it all, really.

Leo Grande was far superior to The Idea of You. Leo had surprises, I knew everything that would happen in The Idea. As an older woman, Leo was plausible, attainable, and fulfilling watch.

I finally got around to watching it, Kate. LOVED! I laughed, I cried, I told my friends about it. It was so tender and funny and both actors were flawless. Thank you for the recommendation.
