This seemed like a hilarious afternoon of Dora the Explorer π
I don't think itβs the most inappropriate, but I often fall asleep in the cinema. I blame movies π The most recent was Trap. Just don't bother unless you need a dark, public place to take a nap π
Never read the book or saw the movie, although I did hear about the dust up (read: creative differences?) between Justin and Blake. I can honestly say that that I've never felt like Doris Day (although I loved her movies) and I've never fallen asleep in a movie theater (although my Dad does. LOL). I blame the movie, the food coma (lunch beforehand or hot dog, popcorn, etc), or the sugar crash from eating/drinking all that candy and/or soda.
I knew immediately that this post was going to be better than watching the actual movie so thank you for saving me two hours and eleven minutes AND surviving a salt-induced coma for your personal audience here. I'm reminded of high school and my big panic to track down the film version of Henry V from Blockbuster the night before the year-end exam instead of reading the book. I had taken a month-long in-class nap and my review/essay question quietly revealed that. Instead, your review here was cinematic and informed. Thank you, TV twin! Also---Alexander Neustaedter was fab in American Rust. AND, I thought I recognized you from somewhere. It was definitely Clouds.
That's hilarious, I love the thought of a proper old skool panic trying to secure a video to cram for an exam! π π
PS: Have been trying to watch your recommended 'Deep Water', it started off really well, and then the itvX player just keeps freezing, so frustrating. I keep popping back every few days to see if they've solved the problem yet. π«
I'm not surprised you needed a little catnap after the stress of deciding to go to see a film so quickly! Love that you revealed you snoozed. Can't say that I think that says much for the film though as I snooze through films at home but not in the cinema β it's too exciting β it's out, out! Thanks for the giggles. xx
I must admit I was really surprised that I fell asleep, I wasn't even tired, instead putting it down to being full of popcorn, and stretching out in a super comfy seat. Zzzzzzz. π
That made me LOL. Perhaps that is what you needed most. When would you actually just admit you felt like overloading on light & yummy carbs followed by a nap? The universe/lighting in the flicks is magical π
That was the best reviewβall I had to hear was, "How long have I been asleep for?" When my husband and I go to the movies, while we watch the previews, we play a little game. After each preview, we give the movie a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down based on our interest level. We both gave a thumbs down to this one. Isn't the book always better anyway?
Thank god for you UK-based people! I had no idea there was a new Bridget Jones on the docket! Between her and Adrian Mole, it's been an education (spag bol for one!). I've just started Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent's memoir, A Short Ride in the Jungle, and a guy told her that back in the day when tigers roamed Vietnam she'd be Kitekat. I thought it was a typo for KitKat but well, who knew it was a cat food brand!
Just like Canada's ketchup-flavoured crisps. We gotta keep our identity strong! I realized this morning that "Kitekat" is probably pronounced "kitty-cat" vs. "Kite-kat"---which leads me to wondering...is there spag bol-flavoured cat food for British cats?
A really good movie I watched recently was The President's Wife (French with English subtitles). The wife was a strong, determined and amusing character and its based on the real life wife of Jaques Chirac. 5-Star experience.
Ironically I too fell asleep twice during the movie. I had read the book about a year ago...so could fill in my comatose gaps! I liked it and it delivered what I expected - escapism at it's best. I indulged at an afternoon showing with a girlfriend, who nudged me awake twice! haha. So it's not a suspense, edge-of-your-seat anticipation thing. Its a gentle lovely romantic experience with a lesson about dating the wrong guy!!!
My daughter just recommended this movie. Haha. From your description however, I will wait until it's free on a streaming service. Is the movie as slow as "The Widow Cliquot?"
Looking forward to your Emily take. So far it's the fluff I was hoping for: gorgeous shots of Paris, fab couture and an up-cycled story line from the other seasons.
I don't mind falling asleep in public; it's the snoring that's embarrassing.

Aaah, I used to love Dora the Explorer! π₯°

So funny Kate - the fact that you fell asleep and spent most of your time on Google / Chat really highlights how shit this film was π
I always dreamed of being Doris Day in Calamity Jane - one of my all time favs
Whip Crack Away!!! π
Taking me right back there to watching it a million times on our old Betamax

The suspense! Well, I do believe anticipation is everything (if not annoying at times). It's worth the pacing around and wait!
I shall persist in checking back, and if that fails I may write them a stern 'why oh why' letter. π

Yes, the book is always better as it contains a lot more detail. π
Letβs hope the new Bridget Jones is a corker! π€

I only found out a few years ago that Spag Bol isnβt available at all in Italy, itβs just a British thing! π

We have ketchup crisps too! π
And yes, Kitekat is pronounced kitty-kat. π
I'll see your ketchup crisps and raise you a bag of Lays Bolognese! Thanks for the kitty kat confirmation too! https://sweetfusion.net/product/lays-bolognese/#:~:text=Indulge%20in%20the%20robust%2C%20savoury,that%20Lay's%20is%20famous%20for.

This sounds good, thanks for the recommendation! π

Ha ha, thanks for sharing, Iβm glad I wasnβt the only one! π

Yeah, wouldnβt say the Β£5 ticket was a good investment, however the popcorn was delicious. ππ
My daughter just told me that everyone hating on Blake Lively because of her odd interviews for the movie and her costumes.
Yeah, sheβs not having a good time right now, which must be awful for her. π
You make me laugh- love it!
Thanks Alice, I love to hear your laughter from all the way in LA! π
Made me laugh so much. Thank you
In seven words you have written the perfect comment, thank you so much! π₯°
My work here is done. Thank you so much! ππ
